Things to Do in NYC: Karaoke
I think I’ve found my new favorite place in New York City: Japas 27 (East Japanese Restaurant) in Kips Bay.
This place is hilarious. Each group that comes in is given their own secluded room, complete with a fully equipped with a karaoke machine. For two hours, you are served all-you-can-eat sushi and all-you-can-drink wine and beer. You are also free to scream into your microphones at the top of your lungs and pound on the walls (which we learned while performing “Love Shack”) without any complaints from the restaurant. The only time we ever interacted with anyone from the restaurant is when they snuck in quietly to refill our booze.
By the time I arrived, everyone was already dripping with sweat and dancing on the booths barefoot.
Except Paige. Paige was on the floor trying to get people to fart into her microphone.
In all seriousness, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun night out in New York City. When you get there, make sure you tell them you are there for karaoke and they’ll bring you up to the second floor. (The first floor is just a standard, sit-down restaurant.) It’s the perfect way to kick-off your evening, and two hours is the perfect amount of time to take full advantage of the all-you-can-drink special.
And, if you disagree, you can always take it to go.

Hahaa ahh now that is my kinda place! looks like soo much fun (we’re obviously going once the time finally comes and I visit you in big NYC!)
This looks like so much fun, I haven’t been there yet. I was recently introduced to City Maps adn have been using it to find great NYC Restaurants. Its a virtual map of the city that lays out every business, so you can just point and click to find out everything you need to know. Very cool, you should check it out.
