The Born This Way Ball in STL [Part 1]

Four flights and one Lady Gaga concert later, I’m back home and ready to tell you all about our incredible weekend in St. Louis!

My big brother picked us up from the airport and brought us back to his apartment to relax before our big evening. (We tried to watch the Devils game but apparently Missouri does not feel the need to broadcast New Jersey sports teams. Rude.)

We decided to grab an early dinner at Cafe Mochi before heading to the concert. I’m pretty sure we got enough sushi to feed a small army. We demolished it all, obviously.

Once we were sufficiently stuffed, it was time to head to the Scottrade Center. We turned my brother’s car into a makeshift beauty salon, whipping out the denim, leather, and red lipstick. I think we may have overwhelmed him.

Now he knows — you don’t mess with a girl and her bedazzler.

Things I Learned in Missouri: It’s really freakin’ cold.

Don’t let our smiles fool you. We were dying.

We were a bit early, so we spent some time at the Born This Way Foundation tailgate. I was incredibly impressed with the set up. Everything was free — including photo booths and food — and there was a ton of information available for people who are looking to get involved and make a different in the community.

Before long, it was time to go inside and meet up with the Skype team!
I briefly alluded to it in this post, but —

I won a contest with Skype and was asked to be their official Born This Way “blue carpet” reporter in St. Louis. This meant that I got two free tickets to the show, my own little camera crew (shout-out to CJ!), and the chance to meet and talk to tons of Lady Gaga fans as they poured into the arena.

HOW INSANE IS THIS TATTOO?

My favorite moment of the evening came when I was able to surprise two fans by giving them passes into the Monster Pit. For those who aren’t devout Little Monsters, the Monster Pit is an exclusive, blocked-off area right in front of the stage. The craziest part is that you can’t buy Monster Pit tickets — they don’t exist. You either have to win your way in or camp out for days in advance and pray that you make the cut.

The two girls who won the tickets were absolutely adorable and so sweet. I couldn’t have asked for a better reaction out of them. You better believe there were tears!  (I promise to share videos with you all once they’re uploaded onto Skype’s website.)

Alex and I toasted to that. (Whiskey on the rocks. Of course.)

Right before the concert started, we headed down into the Monster Pit with the winners. I conducted a few more interviews down there — some of the outfits were UNBELIEVABLE — and my job was done!  It was finally time to sit back, relax, and enjoy Gaga.

Stay tuned for Part 2!

Disclosure: I was given complimentary tickets to the Born This Way Ball in St. Louis, Missouri by Skype.  All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
