The Big Move

You know you work too much when this e-mail conversation happens at 11:00pm on a Thursday night:

SP:  ”I think it’s supposed to rain tomorrow for the move.  Awesome.”

AA:  ”Oh crud.  I’ll bring umbrellas.  Also, I love how you are lying in bed worried about the weather.  I am lying in bed worried about what kind of chairs the new office will have.  I really loved my old chair.”

SP:  ”We really need to find hobbies.”

We are FINALLY moving offices tomorrow!  For the 14 months that I’ve worked here, we have shared an office with another company.  Unfortunately for them, we are loud, obnoxious, and have a tendency to throw jelly beans at each other.  Needless to say, I don’t think they are sad to see us go.

I packed up my desk in all of 5 minutes.  It’s not that hard to fit a Snuggie, a maraca, a snow globe and a water gun into a cardboard box.  I wish that I was kidding.

Luckily for me, I’ve had a great support system during The Big Move.  That always makes things easier.

Rah.  Rah.

Tomorrow shall also be bittersweet because I have to say goodbye to my little peanut, Brooke.  This summer went by way too fast.  It seems like just yesterday we were sitting at brunch – laughing over life, lazy eyes, and all things peanut butter – and now she’s off again, ready to spread her joy all over the country.  Though I know our paths will cross in the future – hopefully, the very near future – I can’t help but be sad.  Brooke has kept me sane this summer, not judged my random outbursts of anger, taught me a lot about life (and astrology), and kept me laughing when all I wanted to do was give up and cry.  Life works in funny ways.  Just trust me on that.

I plan on drowning my sorrows by consuming an entire box of Baked by Melissa in her honor.

And with that, I’m off.  Fingers crossed for no rain.
