Now & Then
This weekend, we had veeeeesitors!
Our best friends from home came up from DC to visit for the weekend.
(I think that this was the very first day of senior year in 2005. How in God’s name was this 8 years ago? High school seems like just yesterday. Also — EWW. I like to think we’ve aged gracefully.)
The girls got in late on Friday night so we laid low and caught up until the wee hours of the morning. An old school slumber party, just like when we were kids.
Our Saturday plans included brunch, walking the High Line, stopping for beers at The Standard Biergarten, buying shoes so we didn’t have to go back to our apartments before dinner (#LAZY), and a pit stop for froyo. Then, we made our way to my new favorite restaurant in NYC — The Hurricane Club.
A giant watermelon full of vodka? Don’t mind if I do!
A special thanks to our waiter for bringing us TWO of every dish we ordered and not charging us for any of it. God bless you.
Post-dinner drinks and dancing ensued.
Sadly, the weekend was over before we knew it. We walked Kara and Sam to Penn Station on Sunday, put them on the
WRONG bus, and sent them back to DC. I’m already counting down the days until our next girls weekend!
“I say we make a pact. Here and now.
We’re here for each other, always, no matter what happens in life.
If Teeny goes off to Hollywood or I marry a rich doctor,
we remember this day and this pact. Whenever we need a friend,
we’re here for each other. We can count on it. Always. No matter what.”
