“Home is where the heart can laugh without shyness; where the heart’s tears can dry at their own pace.” – Vernon Baker
Jet lag got the best of me last night.  I was wide awake at 2:00am, passing the time by catching up on old episodes of Dance Moms.  Then, I discovered a new show called Preacher’s Daughters.  It is officially my new favorite television show.  So bad that it’s good, if that makes any sense.

Apparently, I fell back asleep around 5:00am.  You know when you have those half-asleep dreams that seem so real and then you wake up, disappointed to learn that they didn’t actually happen?  Yeah, I had about four of those.  Real life is a bummer sometimes.

Traveling is fun and all, but there’s nothing I want more right now than a hug from my parents and a night of uninterrupted sleep in my own bed.  Soon enough.

PS. I learned everything I need to know about dying Easter eggs from my father, clearly.

How do you deal with being homesick?

  1. Jet lag is the worst. I’m convinced it causes lot of crazy dreams, because my husband claimed he had a ton of them when we went to Arizona (a three hour time difference). Not going to lie, when I’m homesick, I’ll usually cry or watch mindless TV, and I always feel better in the morning!

  2. Sorry to hear you are so homesick! No fun at all. Sometimes I feel so lucky for getting to travel for work but then I am sitting in my hotel room alone and all I want is to be home. To pass the time, I read some good magazines, catch up on my favorite blogs and mindless chick flicks. Usually, we’re all home before we know it. Here’s to hoping the rest of your travels fly by!

  3. I miss you. Time to come back.

P.S. come visit Boston? You can even bring Frank, but only if he’ll cook for me. Although I’m not sure what he can do with beer, yogurt, and chicken…
