A Wicked Awesome Wedding Weekend

Ohhhhh my gosh.

This weekend may have been one of the most ridiculous weekends I’ve ever had.  In my entire life.
Let’s rewind.

We arrived in Newport around 11:00pm on Friday night.  After checking in at the Best (Worst) Western, we headed down to the hotel bar because we are alcoholics we were ready to party.  When in Rhode Island!  YOLO Y’ALL!

Apparently, last call is at MIDNIGHT (spoiled New York City kids we are) so, after one drink, we ventured onwards to The Landing, a spot recommended by the bartender.
We came.  We saw.  We drank.  We danced.  We played a few ROWDY rounds of “Heads Up” in the parking lot.  And, when all was said and done, we paid a pizza deliveryman to drive us all home so we could continue the party.
It’s all fun and games until someone files a noise complaint.  Lesson learned.

Saturday was WEDDING DAY!
Can we talk about how STUNNING the bride and groom looked?  I still can’t get over how perfect Lindsey’s dress was.  She looked like a princess, as every bride should.  Simply gorgeous.
The ceremony was just as beautiful.  I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the church.  Thank goodness for waterproof mascara.

Once the vows were exchanged, it was time to party!
The venue was absolutely breathtaking.  Seriously.  I contemplated hiding in one of the cabinets and never leaving, but cocktail hour ultimately distracted me from that plan.
There was lobster mac and cheese, clam chowder, a Del’s Lemonade food truck, and even a RAW BAR.
It’s official.  I’m moving to New England tomorrow and never coming back.  I think it’s where I belong.
20130805-091947.jpgThe rest of the evening was filled with delicious food, too many drinks, several trips to the photo booth, sing-a-longs, swigs of Jim Bean straight from the bottle, gymnastics on the great lawn, and an UNREAL sunset over the water.
Oh, and there was dancing.  A LOT of dancing.
When it comes to epic weddings, Lindsey and Charlie definitely raised the bar.  We all had a freakin’ blast, and my only complaint is that it’s over.  (If more people could please start getting engaged so I could have something to look forward to, that would be great.)
Until next time, Rhode Island!

    • I’m a grandma 99% of the time. Ain’t no shame in late night tea and reading. 🙂

And yes, the groom’s drink was AMAZING.

  2. Oh my gosh everything about this wedding is fantastic!! I love those napkins, I need them in my life!

    • Adorable, right? They also had ones with my favorite EE. Cummings’ quote: “I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)”. So perfect.
