2011: The Year in Review

January.

We spent the first day of 2011 in a bar (with a 5 year old).  My roommate turned 23.  Top Ten Tuesdays were born.  We walked the Brooklyn Bridge and celebrated with shots of 151.  We got my boss a Hot Dog Gram for his birthday.  Tommy and I successfully completed a Man vs. Food challenge.  I took my very first trip to Charlotte, North Carolina.  January rocked.

February.

“The Sunday Funday” was officially added to the drink menu at Mikies.  Superbowl Sunday got the best of us.  We waved our freak flags front row at The Monster Ball.  We polished off $100 worth of food at Carmines in 10 minutes flat.

March.

I turned 23.  Holly came to Hoboken to celebrate  St. Patrick’s Day with the gang.  My kidney failed me.  I took a trip to Boston to visit my best friend/prom date/future husband.  I started drawing again.

April.

I bought flowers for a stranger.  I burnt my butt.  My hair reached an unthinkable length.  Chinese Sunday became a weekly tradition.  I took a road trip down south for a long Easter weekend.  I most certainly did NOT take down my Christmas tree.

May.

Lady Gaga came to New York City for a free concert in Central Park.  After months of anticipation, Born This Way was finally released.  I got to walk through the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  I may have cried.

June.

We went on a midnight Booze Cruise around Manhattan.  The Tony Awards went off without a hitch — for the 2nd year in a row!  The New York State Assembly passed the Marriage Equality Act, a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in New York (!!!).  Life came full circle and I got to spend nearly every day with one of my best friends.

July.

Greg and I watched the 4th of July fireworks from the convenience of our rooftop.  Casey Anthony was found not guilty.  Chaos ensued.  I went to Cancun with “The Smurfs” on my very first work trip!  We moved into a brand new office with an incredible view.  I almost met Lady Gaga.

August.

Jimmy came to town.  We ate a filthy amount of food and spent a filthy amount of money.  We saw Beyonce in concert at the Roseland Ballroom.  I fell in love with Sutton Foster.  Hurricane Irene almost wiped us all out.  I finally hugged Lady Gaga.

September.

This month marked the 10 year anniversary of September 11th, a day which was both solemn and full of pride.  I met Nicola Formichetti at a private breakfast at his TriBeCa Mugler pop-up shop.  I had minor foot surgery.  I may have cried.

October.

I somehow got talked into Blackout NYC.  We participated in the New York Drink Olympics.  I took a day trip to Washington, D.C. where I met someone who has been my idol for the past 10 years.  I bought my first wig (for Halloween) and I fear it’s started a severe addiction.

November.

I slept on a street in the Lower East Side.  I FINALLY MET LADY GAGA, and even got to walk in her shoes.  My favorite boys came into town and went with me to see “Sleep No More.”  My picture finally made it on Terry’s Diary.

December.

My daddy turned 50 years old young.  I took my first vacation and went to visit my best friend in Dallas, Texas!  I broke my finger riding a mechanical bull.  Christmas came and went, and I got to spend the most wonderful time of year with my family and very best friends.

I’m thankful that I’ve kept up with this blog through all of the madness of this past year.  It’s been so nice to look back on what I’ve done and how I’ve grown as a person in just 12 short months.

I have no idea what’s in store for me in 2012 but, if this year was any indication, I think it’s going to be just fabulous.

Thank you for reading!
